"Graduated Courses" is a style that begins with large thick pieces at the eave that reduce in size and thickness as the slate moves up the roof. This method is typically used on structures with large steep sides, where the beauty can be fully appreciated. The installation is extremely complicated and should only be attempted by highly experienced roofers. This particular roof also has mitered hips and slate installed on the sides of the dormers. Very traditional and beautiful!
