Brazilian slate comes in several colors, all of which have very little sheen. It is appreciated for its uniformity and beauty. It is of typically medium to high quality, but must be purchased from a reputable source. A few of the Brazilian slates can be split very thin to weigh less than 6 pounds per square foot. Useful for homes engineered for less weight.
